I have been involved in developing a browser based judging system which utilizes ipod Touches for the judges to input competitor scores. It was designed for use in skier and snowboard Halfpipe but could be modified to many judging applications. The application includes: judge terminals, head judge score approval monitor and an announcer terminal application. The monitor applications can be displayed on standard computers through a web browser or on the iphone or ipod touch. It hasn't been run on other hand held mobile units but the browser interface could be modified for optimum display on most any platform with a wired or wireless interface. Since it is a browser based system it can run on PC or mac OSX. The database backbone is MySQL. The application utilizes an intranet that you deploy locally and the system is using the local intranet for data transfer. Server security can be maintain easily with various network tweeks.

The system was developed for the 48STRAIGHT series of events which has been terminated due to a variety of reasons. The system was developed by George Mehr of FLS ACTII and Greg Blasko of Peak Timing with input from Ted Martin formerly of Eclipse TV. It is available for rent or purchase to interested events or organizations.

George,
I think this is great.

How easily can the system be adapted to other sports or specific applications such as a judged horse show? I may have other applications as well.

Do you have results features in the software already built in? Scoreboard outputs? Live results to the web?

I have a specific application as well, if you want to contact me offline. I saw information about this on Andy's webpage and it got me thinking.
Thanks,
Jenna
