2 ALGE PR1a cells can be set up to work in series to assist in getting accurate times for track sprints. You want to get the chest breaking the beam to stop the time, not an outstretched hand. The ALGE RLS3c does this of course but 2 - PR1as work fine for 90% of the meets.



You want the beams about 8 (20cm) inches apart.

Attach a jumper from the black (ground) output of the top cell to the red (signal) output of the bottom cell. Attach the signal line to the timer to the red (signal) output of the top cell. Attach the ground line from the timer to the black (ground) output of the bottom cell.

You now have a set of cells in series.

Both beams have to be broken to send a pulse to the timer.
