I am trying to get splitsecond 3.08 to work with both the TAG PTB605 and the ALGE GAZ4 SCOREBOARD. do i need more than one Serial port? or is there a cable that will let me run both of the one serialport.

If i do need more than onwe serialport, can i use a USB to serial adapter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thakns in advance
Stefan

You need a serial port for each task. One serial port for the input of data from the PTB and one serial port to output to the GAZ.

Try to use the native serial port on the PC for the input and the USB > Serial adapter for the output.

There are lots of posts under the "data communication" forums on members success with usb, socket cards, etc.
If you have a GAZ 4 with a switchable baud so it can run at 9600 you can run both devices off of one serial port with the right cables. Both devices need to run at the same baud and I am pretty sure the PTB is 9600. Geoff used to build an adapter that used a circuit loop, but I got better distance using Serial ports out/inputs directly. I use a DB9 to banana plug adapter with three single banana plus. One for Ground (black) one for in (red) and one for out (green)

Two of these connected with Red to green on both and black to black with the display plugged into the ground (black) and out (green) of the cable plugged into the computer. Since I build all my cables the same, you need one gender changer.

If you need me to build cables, I might be willing for the right price as I need to build a few more for me...they are handy little cables to help monitor devices on secondary timers, scoreboards, and datalog...
Good luck,
Jenna
