I can get my SplitSecond USB dongle to work on an older computer, but not either of two newer models.

It works on:
Dell Inspiron 8100
Pentium PIII 1 GHz
256 MB Ram
Windows XP Home Edition v2002 SP2
Norton Antivirus 9.05.15
Splitsecond v5.11

It does NOT work on:
Dell Inspiron 9100
Pentium P4 2.99 GHz
512 MB Ram
Windows XP Professional Edition v2002 SP2
Norton Internet Security v8.0.2.5
Norton Antivirus v11.0.2.4
Splitsecond v5.11

OR

Dell Inspiron 5160
Pentium P4
512 MB Ram
Windows XP Professional Edition v2002 SP2
Norton Internet Security v8.0.2.5
Norton Antivirus v11.0.2.4
Splitsecond v5.11

Anyone out there have any ideas??? The big obvious difference I see is the Norton Internet Security, but disabling that during install of splitsecond software and/or USB driver has no effect.

Forgot to add the error messages I'm recieving:

First I get a message that dongle setup has been completed.

Second, I get a KEYSETUP failure notice: Failure: StartService: Parclass Error code: 0x37

Third, I get a KEYSETUP failure notice:
***Could not start the driver***. Please correct the problem and re-run setup.

If a SplitSecond USB Key doesn't work on your computer it's almost always because Windows has assigned the wrong driver to the Key.

To fix this do the following:

1. Remove the Key.

2. Install the driver. To do this start the software (either one) and take the option "Timing | Software Key | Install Driver". Don't worry if you get an error during this process, it's because the driver installation was originally written for the parallel key.

3. Go to Device Manager. If you know how to get there, great! If not you can get there easily using the SplitSecond software by going "Timing | Setup & Test" and clicking the button on the top right for "device manager".

4. Attach the Key so you can see what Windows thinks it is. You should see a new item come up under USB devices (or maybe somewhere else!) within a few seconds of plugging it in. Right click on it and take the option to "Update Driver". It should find it automatically and you should see a message for "Security Device" or something similar.

5. Close and restart the software and it should see the Key.
