Does anybody on the forum know more about this?

Last I heard, IndyCar used AMB Tran-X (which gave the win to the wrong car) and Lynx Pro 10K photofinish (which was used to decide the "real" result). Would be interesting to know more details, if anybody has some inside scoop.

As far as I know transponders are identification devices.

From F1 to cross country, cycling and many other sports, the exact time and/or finish order is given by a photocell (when possible) or photofinish equipment.

The transponder time represents the day-time when the communication between the receiver and the chip is established. Which is not necessarily the same order the cars crossed the finish line.

I hope this helps.
Mr Broder:

Obviously given the number of his/her posts on this forum, fdariz has no idea about your background and experience. I feel he gave a perfectly reasonable response to your question without knowing any details of what actually occurred. However, I feel your reply was inexcusably rude. Most of the long time members of this forum know you have little regard for transponders in the timing world, but I am sure I am not the only one who would appreciate it if you keep your comments respectful and helpful to fellow forum members.

Mr. Read:

You are certainly entitled to your opinions about me. But like fdariz, you contributed nothing whatsoever to the subject at hand. My question still stands....

SCOOP?

Is it a systemic problem with Chron-X?
Were the antenna loops installed incorrectly?
Did one of the teams illegally offset their transponder?
Nefarious, systemic, environmental, or "other"?
