I have a Compaq Presario with USB ports and have purchased a Radio shack USB/serial cable to plug into my Timy via the serial to 25 pin port. When using Split Second, The connection works but the times are delayed at the rate of .15 to .18 sec's. as displayed in the TOD. Whats the deal? Is the serial to USB delayed? Fred advised me to purchase a Belkin serial to USB adaptor cord but went with the Radio Shack.

Any ideas?

The 2-port Quatech Serial PCMCIA Card is simple to install and fits neatly into an available PCMCIA cardslot. When the detachable pigtail is removed, the card sits flush in the cardslot, so you can leave the card inside your laptop during transportation without fear of snapping anything off or damaging your cardslot. The quad-port pigtail is also compact and portable, making this PCMCIA card the ideal solution for the traveling businessman or mobile industrial worker.

I use Usb for printers and other stuff, but not for timing.

Thanks for the reply on the Serial port adaptor. I found one and tried it. It works fine and when using the CO and C1 ports for start and finish gives times and TOD the same from the Timy to Split second. However the problem I had with delayed times is coming from the use of the Green Start and Red Finish buttons on the Timy. When using these there is a difference of .02-.03 sec. I suspect that the buttons on top are not wired into the Timy directly and will post different times. I have not tried the USB adaptor with the C0 C1 outputs yet, but will report the results of that test as well
