I'm wondering if anyone can help with recovering a start and finish time. Here is what happened:
Bib 1 entered in starting grid and is on course; Bib 2 entered in starting grid and is on course; Bib 1 entered in finish grid; Bib 2 entered in finish grid (overwriting Bib 1, it appears); Bib 1 finishes; Bib 2 finishes.

Printer shows only a record for Bib 2 - Start time of 48:02.47 (appears to be actual start time for Bib 1); Finish time of 48:19.93 (makes no sense); Run time of 18.46(too short for anything).

Printer then shows Bib 2 again - Finish time of 48:57.41. This appears to be the actual finish time of Bib 2.

So, how does one recover the start time for Bib 2 and the finish time for Bib 1?

Thanks!

You can't really lose a time on a TDC 8000/8001 unless you clear the memory.

You can go back into a preexisting race and edit times and bibs within if you DO NOT clear the race when you start the timer again. You then say "yes" to the Same Heat question and you will be able to go back into that race after re syncing. The syn really doesn't matter but try to use a time of day later than the time you were racing at.

You can edit start times by placing a bib in the start and pressing the left hand "input" key. That will bring up the associated start times for that bib. You can either scroll through the options or retype them. The timer will recalculate a net time based on the new start.

You can edit start times by placing a bib in the finish and pressing the right hand "input" key. That will bring up the associated finishrt times for that bib. You can either scroll through the options or retype them. The timer will recalculate a net time based on the new finish.

You may wish to look at the times, transcribed them and then calculate them by hand.

Very often the issue of incorrect times happens when the bib number in the start is not matched with the racer in the gate. Getting out of order will quickly create a situation.

The best thing to do at that point is to call a technical course hold and let the hill clear of racers prior to resuming. Advance the paper, tear it off and hand it to someone else to check the times, recalculate if needed, etc.
I apologize for not reading that you did say that you had a TDC 4000.

A bit more complicated as the 4000 does not have all of the the memory of 8000 and therefore your have to have the times on the printed tape to reconstruct misplaced net times.

You have to be timing in "difference" mode.

It is possible, just takes longer and more steps.

The "d" key allows for start time edits and the "c" key deals with finish edits. The TDC4000 will recalculate net times once you enter the new time of day.
So I guess this is why you are supposed to have hand timers... Smile

I can't quite recall, but does one normally run timing in "difference" mode? I'm thinking we usually run in "split" mode??? Is that right?

I suspect that once you choose a mode, you are stuck with it during that timing session. Thus, in my example, those times are not recoverable, correct?

Also, is there a way to get the printer to print a time every time a starter starts and finisher finishes while also printing the runtimes that correspond to the correct bib numbers?

For example:
Bib 1; ST 43:30.3
Bib 2; ST 44:00.1
Bib 1; FT 1:03:30.3
Bib 1; RT 60:00
Bib 3; ST 44:30.4

(assuming I did the math right...)

Thanks again
