Here are a problem I have, could someone help me in that ?

we got a lot of Masters World Best record at the Track World Masters Games here, but before officialize it, I am concerne about some aspect of the Timy Timer I have.

Here are the datalog from a rider :

14:52:34.9121 ch 0 Start
244/Rider
Rnk: Dif:
14:52:40.3894 ch 3 100m
244/Rider
00:00:05.4770 NET SPD=65.729
Rnk:1 Dif:-0.551
14:52:45.0081 ch 3 Int1 C1 (Starts Homestr)
244/Rider
00:00:10.0960 NET SPD=71.315
Rnk:1 Dif:-1.066

And here is what I have on the Timy print tape :

788 C0 14:52:34.9121
789 C3 14:52:40.3894
790 C6 14:52.45.81

So here is a big difference between the two times :
Computer receive : 14:52.45.0081 - 14:52:34.9121 = 10.096
And
Timy time : 14:52:45.81 - 14:52:34.921 =10.8979

This thing happen for all the World record I have.
Timy precision was in 1/100
Rouding was at cut.

Is funny to see that the Channel 3 has all the thousand precision but not my channel 6 and 8 during all the week ? The tape print and the time send to V2 was not the same.

Thank you ALL

I know that skunk products do not like transmission to the 1/100 precision. For instance if you use the manual inputs on the timy you will have the same issues related to the skunk products. The software is expecting 4 digits after the decimal and when it only gets two they are placed to the right behind a pair of zeros. Easiest solution is to use the first four channels as Fred suggests. When the precision is there, the software works fine.
This is why I love this forum. I know if I had this problem I would have been yelling at someone completely innocent. I hope Sylvain is having fun in Edmonton. How many hours of pursuits, kilos, and 200's? of course that is why they call the pros.
So for timed events when using skunkware use channels 0,1,2,3 set at 1/1000 or 10,000?
Over,

2005 Edmonton World Masters Games are done by today. Thank You Fred for your calling this morning and give me an answer before the day started.

I had to correct all time by changing the two first zéro. So Bob Pellegrin was unhappy about his change of .8 seconds.

I tried all connection all the channels 0 up to 5 all accurate, is only the 6 7 and 8 are not.

For your info Mike, we were had about 8 hours of pursuit, 6 hours of 200m, ...

Results will be posted ASAP, they had problem to received my e-mail results.
John and Mike bring up a good point. If the Timy is not configured properly, the V2 software should be interpreting XX:XX:XX.81 as .8100 and not .0081.

Frankly, it was only last winter I realized only channels 0-4 yield precision to .0001 and that the higher ones yield only .001. The button-box I have for my Timy only has channels 0,1,2, and 3, so I have never used any other channels. And I never used the green START or red STOP buttons to trigger it until Albert Vetter pointed out the precision issues between the Timy's various channels to me in Austria last winter.

I don't know why the Timy is set up that way. I'm sure there is a logical reason, because Wolfgang is nothing if not logical, but it is a potential GOTCHA.

Regardless, if the Timy is not configured properly in the first place, you are screwed. If Sylvain had gotten .8100 rather than .0081, he may have never realized he was using channels with insufficient precision, and that the results were compromised.

I need to look at installing some sort of warning so that if the V2 software receives a pulse from the timer of insufficient precision, the operator is notified that he has a serious problem.

I could have done a better job of sniffing this potential problem out, and coding around it.
James,

if you plan to do warning message about that on the V2, try to program it for TTware also.

Thank you everyone to discuss about that, I hope that will not happen to one of us... 5 world best performance and the day after, I had to tell the rider finnally the results was bad, I corrected all of them mannualy by erasing the first two zero...
