Time precision

That is almost a second. What firmware are you running? There was another new one in July that might have addressed this.

My firmware is V 0521

I suceed to have time to TTware with my other Timy a have in Montréal, but this second one I am not sure is well configure for precision.

Yes a around a second for some riders, and we got 4 world best performances here, but tomorrow I will have to tell them is a configuration problem.

The TIMY has full precision for Channel 0-4. The other channels do not. We use the following for V2:

Channel 0 start
Channel 2 Finish/ Home Straight Pursuit
Channel 3 Back Straight Pursuit
Channel 4 100m

There still appears to be an error between the Timy and the Computer as the computer put 2 zeros after the decimal that changed 8 tenths to 8 thousands. Is that related to accuracy in the Timy or an error in software? The computer should still see .8 not .008

I know that skunk products do not like transmission to the 1/100 precision. For instance if you use the manual inputs on the timy you will have the same issues related to the skunk products. The software is expecting 4 digits after the decimal and when it only gets two they are placed to the right behind a pair of zeros. Easiest solution is to use the first four channels as Fred suggests. When the precision is there, the software works fine.

This is why I love this forum. I know if I had this problem I would have been yelling at someone completely innocent. I hope Sylvain is having fun in Edmonton. How many hours of pursuits, kilos, and 200's? of course that is why they call the pros.
So for timed events when using skunkware use channels 0,1,2,3 set at 1/1000 or 10,000?

I had to correct all time by changing the two first zéro. So Bob Pellegrin was unhappy about his change of .8 seconds.

I tried all connection all the channels 0 up to 5 all accurate, is only the 6 7 and 8 are not.

For your info Mike, we were had about 8 hours of pursuit, 6 hours of 200m, ...

John and Mike bring up a good point. If the Timy is not configured properly, the V2 software should be interpreting XX:XX:XX.81 as .8100 and not .0081.

Frankly, it was only last winter I realized only channels 0-4 yield precision to .0001 and that the higher ones yield only .001. The button-box I have for my Timy only has channels 0,1,2, and 3, so I have never used any other channels. And I never used the green START or red STOP buttons to trigger it until Albert Vetter pointed out the precision issues between the Timy's various channels to me in Austria last winter.

I don't know why the Timy is set up that way. I'm sure there is a logical reason, because Wolfgang is nothing if not logical, but it is a potential GOTCHA.

Regardless, if the Timy is not configured properly in the first place, you are screwed. If Sylvain had gotten .8100 rather than .0081, he may have never realized he was using channels with insufficient precision, and that the results were compromised.

I need to look at installing some sort of warning so that if the V2 software receives a pulse from the timer of insufficient precision, the operator is notified that he has a serious problem.

I could have done a better job of sniffing this potential problem out, and coding around it.

if you plan to do warning message about that on the V2, try to program it for TTware also.
