We were in Angel Fire this weekend for the Final Descent, a two run downhill stage race. A HUGE amount of rain and snow fell the day and evening before the race day and completely soaked the New Mexico soil producing the muddiest conditions that I have ever seen at a MTB race.

Race day was clear and cold and practice was run in the morning until 11AM with a race start of Noon. For the first run we had only 15 of the 200 riders numbers readable by my pre-caller. The remainder of the field was identified after their finish from a person at the back of the finish corral.

In the end it all came out fine and was a great event. I dont know why but those guys actually like the mud.
