Upon arrival at our last event I pulled out our 8001 to charge it up for use. When I turned it on I was not greeted with the usual 5 beeps and prompts for program selection. I tried some usual fixes like checking the ribbon cables and pulling the battery cable to no success. We got through the weekend without it (other clocks were deployed) but when I arrived home I had another look inside. It was discovered that the circuit board that holds the eprom had separated (not completely but enough that it wouldn't work) from the basis board below and the connection was compromised. I pressed the two back together and bingo, it fired right up. If you have a similar failure check this connection as well as the ribbon cables.
