Anyone have any experience with these?

I picked up a couple recently (cheap) thinking that Tag would still support them since they are still indemnified. First mistake. Reliable Racing provided a little support in the form of a basic user guide, but other than that they can't do much. The manual I do have is for a 501, but seems similar.

I am wanting to use them as a "dumb" timebase, for use with a program like Fiddleware. Is the cable similar to the one for the 505 (1/8" mono plug and pins 2 and 5 on a DB 9)? Any tips for using it in this environment?

Any tips for running alpine ski races with them would be greatly appreciated (program settings...). Since it's no longer supported, I opened it up and was happy to find that it isn't overly complicated to repair. I cleaned up some minor button issues and removed a little corrosion, but otherwise the units seem fairly straight-forward and in good shape. Any chance of getting the schematics, or does Tag want them to die a quick and painful death?

Thanks

I've built a couple serial cables for them (per the thread on the 505), and they seem to work reasonable well with Fiddleware and Soft Control's software. I'm still working out the issues there, but I expect that they'll work fine for our purposes. Does anyone know the rating and polarity for the DC adapter, or should I just stick with batteries?
