I am running a race this weekend and another club loaned us their GAZ. Has anyone got a GAZ to work with SoftControl Ski software?

I have a tag 650, but it does not appear to be in the loop on the display.

The GAZ has been sold by phenoix and appears to have a mod with a switch and custom cable for tag 705.

Through this great group, I have figured the switch changes the baud rate from 2400 to 9600. Tried all combos of that.

Also pulled the plug appart and noticed differnt data paths. Neither the PC plug or the 705 plug worked.

Tried the wheel at 0, 1 and 13. No dice either.

Any help would be great since the little kids like to see their times...

Thank you.

You should at least try the display in default ALGE mode with the Split Second Software. You can download the software and use the "Setup and test" portion without a key.

Leave the display on 2400 baud with the toggle switch in the middle and the rotary dial on 0.

Make sure that your serial port is valid in SST. When in doubt use the default Com 1 port on the back of the PC. USB to serial adapters can be tricky. If a serial port does not appear in Windows device manager you won't be able to use it.

Then if the display works with SST you know that the issue is with the Soft Control software. You know that the display and the cable works.
Soft Control software will only drive a GAZ board if you buy a licence. This software is is free only when using Tag Heuer equipment. The Soft Control Ski timing software now has an update for GAZ4 displays, but you'd still need to buy a software licence in order for it to operate.

That said, I have no idea how to buy a software licence and dongle key??? They don't seem to have a distributor in North America.
