I may have the pin outs for it but will have to look. From what I can recall you need to set the dip switches to make it live. From there you can control the board to count up, count down, or start and stop then reset. There is one ground pin, a start pin, an hours set pin, minutes set pin, and a stop or reset maybe. I figuered most out by expetimenting with paperclips. Bottom line is if you are running with software, dont bother. The phono plug input will receive data from the computer. If you want your board to do more invest in an PST display as they will do it all MUCH easier. Jerry at RRS may also have information on pin outs and dip switch settings.

I have a RRS Smart Display as well as the older Giant Display. Unfortunately, the cables were hacked long ago and the documentation has been lost. Any word on those pin outs? Both still work with our old IIs timer, but I'd like to be able to use it with my new Timy through software if at all possible. I'd hate to trash it and spend the $3000 to get a GAZ display if I can make it work.
So far I haven't been able to find one. As Fred has mentioned before, there were several different configurations. I just ended up updating my entire system (timer, sensors, display...), and I use the Smart Display with the old Reliable Racing IIs timer for less-critical races and practices. The old stuff is pretty bulletproof and easy to use, so even the kid's coaches (who have been known to break anything) can't really do any wrong. I ended up with two complete IIs systems, so I figure I'll run them until they die.

That said, I much prefer my Alge system.
I just updated (somewhat) our club's timer from the old IIs to a Tag 502. To run the SmartDisplay, I'm planning on running the old timer in parallel with the new timer. The IIs will run the display and the 502 will feed the computer and be the official timer. There might be some occasional, small discepancies between the two timebases, but I'll have the tapes off of the 502 to serve as a backup.

The club is unwilling/unable to fork over any additional money for a new display, and I'm unwilling/unable to give them my D-Line to use for races. I need it functional, and as I said, the kids coaches can be a little rough with the gear.

It's an option, however ugly.
