I've never used toolbox, but 80m is within the 100m max length that you can do with 10Base-T or 100Base-TX Ethernet. You can find the pinouts for the rj45 connectors on the Google.

Thanks. I was envisaging having a laptop networked to the timer laptop, both machines in the timing room. The second laptop is running Toolbox and driving a second monitor located outside 80 m away. Can I push signal to that monitor via ethernet connection? Results area is outside, don't want the laptop out there.

They do make converters/extenders to convert vga to cat5. Search around for "vga over cat5" or "vga utp extender".

We have had good results using Rextron VGA over Cat5 extenders to provide transponder driven Scoreboard screens to Commentary for BMX racing. As others have stated, good thing is that only the monitor is outside with the controlling PC in the score room.

We used ATEN (VE150) extenders and BlackBox (AVX-VGA-TP-LRX) models.
ATEN could help if you are looking for a cheap solution, while BlackBox are preferable if you look at a high level solution. Both feature equalization and bring on the other side various resolutions.
Our experience was that you can easily go 750 ft/250m away at 1366x768 with an inexpensive Cat6 cable.
Both suppliers offer also devices that carry DVI and HDMI signals, up to HDTV resolutions.
Some models offer also double channel option or 2 outputs which can be interesting if you need to put a monitor for the announcer and for the public, without adding extra splitters.

This is good information. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced monitor with outdoor capability? Doesn't need to be very large, nor does it need TV quality image.
