Hi,

I'm a new ski instructor at Seven Springs and Jace has recruited me to watch over the bottom of the Nastar course. As a electronics enthusiast, I immediately began checking out the equipment.

From what I gather on the web (just about everything on 'the web' is your site), we have a Self2 timing unit. The Alge site does not acknowledge its existence, but it seems to be an S3/S4 predecessor.

I found the 041-10 cable in the untranslated section of the cable guide for an AMP to 25 pin serial port connector. It looks like this is all they need to hook in to a computer running fiddleware and start recording finish times.

Please let me know if this makes sense and if this cable is easy to get. I saw an earlier post about making one from radio shack parts, which I'd definitely be up for.

Thanks,
Steve

Their unit is a SF2 selftimer. The ZE unit which controls the system does have a diagnostic connection. No one was ever able to get any useful times from this. ALGE never designed this unit to be anything other than a "coin op" self timer.

The only data stream that is somewhat standard that comes from this unit is the scoreboard output.

Try using the ALGE "com to file" program and see if you can receive anything useful. 2400, n,8,1
Thanks for the prompt reply. Are you saying the serial cable is already up there? Or did you bring your own last time you tried to get the data?

Apparently my short term memory is shot. When I went back to find what part to get at radio shack, all i found was your post about not getting cabling from radio shack. If Seven Springs doesn't have the cable, where are they available?

Thanks,
Steve
