Not sure if it is actually a .lss file you need. I've always thought they were scoreboard scripts. Each of the wind gauges that I've connected had their own setting in the (options-wind set up) In that area there is a windspeed setting have you tried that? The other thing is to contact Finish lynx directly and get their help...... In the 19 years that I been contacting them they have never been stumped for a solution for more than a couple of days.
You might be right - I took a deeper look into the contents of a .lss File and to the list of .lss.
There are no files for the listed wind gauges...

Non of the Sauter wind gauges
(neither the older Windmaster 2000
nor the newer Windmaster MFS D1 or D2 ) are in the list on the properties page.

At Sauters website is written, that the wind gauges control panel is detecting the timing system by itself - but this fails in my enviorment.

Maybe this is a cable problem.
But my first thought was, that it was question of the settings in the Lynx software, since a lynx oparator at the club where we rented the wind gauche told me, they had have connection to the lynx a few years ago, but since a certain software update, they were not able to connect it...

Not sure the level of meet you are dealing with, If organization/ track has a gauge that ties in I'll use that otherwise I have a couple of the inexpensive pin wheel gauges from American suppliers and a pair of walkie-talkies. Not sure if that is a solution with equipment approvals in Europe. Have not seen the Sauter gauges here they look like the ALGE ones sold here and they are really not common here as well
Yes they are very much the same - I am not shure, but I think, they are manufactured for alge by Sauter.

I saw this small hand-held gauges - but they are not allowed.
Since this year the older Sauter with the wheel is also not longer allowed - but at the lowest level, we will probably using it.

But at state level or higher, you have to use the newer systems like the alge or MFS D1 (or the simmalary systems from gill or others).

PS - it's probably more difficult, to get another helping person doing the messurement the getting the new wind gauge paid, which is automaticly connected to the timing system ;-)
I like to bring this back in focus.

I was talking to one of the Lynx distributors here in Germany and he meant, that in older versions of the lynx software, you could use the "standard" wind gauge - but this will not work in newer versions...

Is there a file (simallary to the .lss-files), where I can adjust the settings for the wind gauge?

Thanks

Dirk
I was looking at the copy of Finishlynx I have on this computer (8.22) it has a setting for WINDSPEED gauges, pictures of those look like the old windmasters so I wonder if they are just brand labled?
On the page for setting the gauge you can set bod rates, stop bits and the number of bits to a bight, have you played with those settings? I know that different gauges have different orders of the fields of information sent along the wires. I wonder if the newer windmasters differ from their old "pinwheel" tube gauges in the order of data sent?
I checked at our State-Championships yesterday.

They use a Sauter with the "standard (UCS)" setting.
But since they have a LAN2Serial Connection, I was not able to compare the parameters for the datarate.
AND, the are using V7.1 of the lynx software - we do have 8.2 - and this could make a differece according to the German distributor...

Don't you just hate when new and improved also makes things just not work together. I was field ref on Saturday and the timer was having a problem with his new serial/ wifi stuff. He had two items with different bod rates and put the display and wind gauge into the wrong ports. He was so busy in the morning could not trouble shoot, change ports at lunch after a suggestion and every thing then worked like a charm.
The last 2 days, I had our Lynx system and the Sauter wind gauge set up at my office, to find out, how they may play together - but I failed.

I know, that this combination is working at other clubs - but so far, we didn't find out, what the difference between the setups is.

I have the Sauter connected via an USB<->RS232 adaptor. This adaptor is emulating COM5: or COM6: depending on the USB-port it is connected to.
I am able to read the wind measurement on a terminal program, such as hyperterminal on a WIN XP computer.
The settings for the COM-port within hyperterminal are 2400/7/1/no parity.

Having the same setting within the lynx wind gauge window, It seems not to be working.
If I start a race, the wind should be taken between 0 and 10 seconds (acording to the settings for 100m).

As I understood, at the end of this period, the wind reading should be shown in the race-details window.
But it isn't...

I tried different cables, different USB<->RS232 adaptors, and of course different settings for the serial port. I set up Finishlynx on a new computer and I tried different versions from 7.5 to 9.02.
This is the 3rd Sauter I tried. One was an older Windmaster 2000 and the other one an identical MF1 - they should be working all the same was.
But not with my setup!?

Is there a hidden setting to activate the wind reading? I doubt this, because none of the other operators, I was spoken to could remember doing some special things to get the wind reading done.

I am a litle bit frustrated now...
