I am looking for the schematic diagram for the start wand with intercom that we purchased in '95. The headset plugs into the start box with a 5 pin din plug and there are 4 banana plugs. The battery leads and little pc board have become disconnected and I want to reconnect correctly. The schematic I have is for the earlier '80's
version.

The STS series of start gates share a common circuit board design. The dual contact gate has an additional micro switch and connection, but the rest is the same.

The negative (black) lead of the battery runs through the hole in the coil to the underside of the circuit board. It is soldered onto the end of the big ground trace labeled 2. The positive lead (red) is soldered onto the small circuit board extension on the top of the main board. There is a label SV at that point.

The connections to the external banana plugs are both located on the underside of the main board. The yellow and blue (or orange and blue) connections are found to the direct left of the microswitch. Blue is closest to the edge of the board. Yellow is right below it and inboard.

The brown and black connections for the other pair are found towards the center of the main circuit board and below the microswitch. Brown is closest to the right edge and black is inboard.

Make sure the battery itself is working. We replace more battery clips than any other part. Make sure that the back plate is installed with the groove inward. We put a small amount of Goop on the circuit board edge (small!) and then plug the headset in as we are screwing the back plate on. This seats the circuit board in the
groove.

Water damage to the circuit board will cause the amp part to malfunction. The switches still work but you cannot talk.
