As most of you know, ALGE recently came out with a nifty little program for the Timy called CycleStart. It was designed for track cycling by our hero, The Fred, but is applicable to dozens of sports, from car rallying to beach volleyball to yachting to 3-Day Eventing.

The Timy, like all ALGE time-base products, is hampered by the fact that ALGE insists on continuing to use 1940's technology (serial comms) for its time bases and has apparently not yet discovered TCP/IP or The Internet.

To work around ALGE's reluctance to advance at least into the 1960s, I worked up a nifty little PC-based software solution to get Timy CycleStart data onto a LAN and broadcast it to as many clients and devices (such as Daktronics Venus controllers) as you can load up your network with.

This PC software to enhance CycleStart was designed to augment the Skunkware VeloResults product. But, it turned out so simple, so elegant, and so easy to install that I have decided to document it, package it, and release it as freeware to customers of Phoenix Sports (USA ALGE distributor) and Precision Timing (Canada ALGE distributor).

The software can be obtained at any time by going to the "Tech Support & Downloads" section of the Skunkware web site, which is http://www.skunkware.tv
