We are looking at purchasing a new timer. Are the wireless timers any good? And if any of you were to buy one for ski timing what would be your first choice? Thanks

What types of alpine races to you plan on timing? There are strict rules for wireless timing of scored ussa races. You need to comply with "Set-Up Diagram Level 3 (Without Cable)" which is described in the FIS timing booklet.

That being said I highly recommend the Summit Systems SRT1000R timer. It is homologated (approved) for FIS races and you can't beat the price when compared to other timers.

We do mostly local races, but we do have one region 4 ussa race. We'll have to look into that. thanks.
The Summit timer is of course homologated as a wired timer. You still need the homologated start gates, photocells,. etc to complete the package.
Overall the Microgate Racetime 2 kit has been proven to be the best overall investment with a complete package to use either wireless or wired. Designed as a training kit, the Racetime 2 is without equal for racing as well.
