The new PR1a photocell was tested at the RMD Speed week events held in Aspen CO this past week. We used in for the close of the Speed Trap for the DH. The TD liked the plastic case with nice round edges for this location. The shot was about 60 meters going from wall to wall on Strawpile in through beam configuration. Alignment was a little tricky with the "hinged posts" as is required under FIS guidelines.
For the SG we installed it behind the B net at the top of Aztec. The shot was a little shorter (about 30 meters) but it was going through one layer of net.
The Aztec split was flawless but the trap missed a few. It was most likely athletes getting under the beam in their tuck.
I liked the 2 - AA batery access, built in sun shield and ability to switch between TX RX and Reflector modes. The form factor is nice too.
