Split Second /NASTAR/ USSA channel assignments for 2001-2002, NOV 6, 2001

ALWAYS CHECK POLARITY OF ANY BATTERY POWERED CELL. POLARITY DOES MATTER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT RECEIVE A
PULSE IF THE POLARITY IS REVERSED. REVERSE IF THE CELL DOES NOT TRIGGER.

TDC 4000/8000 (NET TIMING USING NET TIME (DISPLAY) CABLE)

THIS TIMER CAN ONLY SEND NET TIME DATA FROM ITS SCOREBOARD OUTPUT PORT TO THE SOFTWARE FOR A SINGLE COURSE.
THE SOFTWARE CALCULATES THE HANDICAP AND MEDAL. THE DISPLAY BOARD IS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE TIMER USING A
PST SPLITTER CABLE OR A CABLE CONNECTED TO THE DISPLAY OUTPUT WITH THE SCREW ON THE CONNECTOR FACING TO THE
RIGHT (TOWARDS THE BANANA PLUG SOCKETS) WHEN LOOKING DIRECTLY AT THE REAR OF THE TIMER. YOU WILL BE PROMPTED
TO ACCEPT ANY BIB NUMBERS NOT IN THE DATABASE. OTHERWISE IT IS QUITE AUTOMATIC

TDC 8000 PLUS (TIME OF DAY OR NET TIMING USING RS232 CABLE)

SPLIT (PRO 1) 10 CHANNEL TIMER (PRO 10), DUAL TIMER (PRO 6)

THIS TIMER HAS EXACTLY THE SAME INPUTS AS THE S4 WITH THE ADDED FEATURE THAT YOU CAN USE DIRECT DIN PLUG
CONNECTION TO THE PHOTOCELLS OR THE BANANA SOCKETS IF YOU ARE USING BATTERY POWERED CELLS.

SINGLE COURSE

START GREEN BANANA JACKS CHANNEL 0 FINISH PHOTOCELL "A" INPUT WITH DIRECT CABLE OR RED BANANA JACKS CHANNEL 1

DUAL COURSE

SETTINGS FOR DIRECT PHOTOCELL CONNECTION TO TIMER USING ALGE OR PST CABLES.

START ON A CH 0 RED START - GREEN BANANA JACKS CH 0 FINISH ON A CH 1 RED FINISH - PHOTOCELL "A" OR RED BANANA JACKS
CH 1 INT ON A CH 2 NOT USED START ON B CH 3 BLUE START - GREEN BANANA JACKS CH 3 FINISH ON B CH 4 BLUE FINISH-
PHOTOCELL "B" OR RED BANANA JACKS CH 4

TIMY

DEFAULT PROGRAM, TIME OF DAY

THE TIMY HAS THE RED OR SINGLE COURSE CAPABILITY FROM EITHER THE BANANA JACKS OR THE DIN CONNECTOR. CHANNEL 0
IS THE DEFAULT START (PIN 1 DIN) AND CHANNEL 1 IS THE DEFAULT FINISH (PIN 2 DIN) THE BLUE COURSE CHANNELS FOR DUAL
RACING ARE ACCESSED FROM THE DB25 CONNECTOR AS ARE ALL 10 AVAILABLE CHANNELS. PST MAKES A SPECIAL THROUGH
CABLE TO ALLOW THE DATA FROM THE TIMY TO BE CARRIED FROM THE DB25 CONNECTOR TO THE PC AND THE BLUE COURSE
IMPULSES TO THE TIMY.

SINGLE COURSE

START CHANNEL 0 - BANANA JACKS ON TIMY FINISH CHANNEL 1 - DIRECT CABLE TO PHOTOCELL WITH DIN JACK OR CHANNEL 1
BANANA JACKS FOR BATTERY POWERED CELLS

DUAL COURSE

RED START CHANNEL 0 - BANANA JACKS ON TIMY RED FINISH CHANNEL 1 - DIRECT CABLE TO PHOTOCELL WITH DIN JACK OR
CHANNEL 1 BANANA JACKS FOR BATTERY POWERED CELLS BLUE START CHANNEL 2 THROUGH DB25 CONNECTOR WITH BATTERY
POWERED CELL BLUE FINISH CHANNEL 3 THROUGH DB25 CONNECTOR WITH BATTERY POWERED CELL

DISPLAYS

CONNECT THE CABLE WITH DB9 CONNECTOR (PIN 5 GROUND, PIN 3 SIGNAL) TO THE PC SERIAL PORT DESIGNATED FOR DISPLAY
OUTPUT. ALWAYS CHECK DEVICE MANAGER UNDER WINDOWS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PORT EXISTS AND WHAT ITS COM
NUMBER IS. THE SOFTWARE WILL WARN YOU IF YOU HAVE AN ILLEGAL SELECTION. CONNECT THE CABLE TO THE DISPLAY RED OR
YELLOW IS SIGNAL AND BLACK IS GROUND. THE DISPLAYS DO NOT SHOW RUNNING TIME OR TICKING SECONDS, ONLY NET TIMES
AT THE FINISH. THE TDC 4000/8000 SELECTION DOES NOT ALLOW THE TIME TO BE SENT FROM THE PC AS IT IS BEING SENT DIRECTLY
FROM THE TIMER WITH A PST SPLITTER CABLE.

ALGE SINGLE DISPLAY

ROTARY DIAL ON "0", TOGGLE SWITCH IN CENTER

DUAL ALGE DISPLAYS

ROTARY DIAL ON 2 FOR RED COURSE, TOGGLE SWICTH IN CENTER ROTARY DIAL ON 4 FOR BLUE COURSE, TOGGLE SWITCH IN
CENTER

PHOENIX A

THE PHOENIX "A" DISPLAY IS DESIGNED TO DISPLAY BIB MEDAL AND TIME

ROTARY DIAL ON 1 FOR RED COURSE, TOGGLE IN THE CENTER ROTARY DIAL ON 2 FOR BLUE COURSE, TOGGLE IN THE CENTER

TIME (DATA) LOGGING

THIS CONCEPT ALLOWS THE OPERATOR TO HAVE A SMALL SERIAL PRINTER NEXT TO THE ANNOUNCER SO HE CAN READ THE
TIMES, MEDALS, HANDICAPS, TIME REQUIRED TO EARN BETTER MEDAL.

SERIAL TIME LOGGING WORKS WITH A DESIGNATED SERIAL PORT. CHECK DEVICE MANAGER FOR LEGAL PORTS.

There are apparently some S3 8 lane timers that do not work as expected with the "Fiddleware" old NASTAR software. The issue seems to be with the RED course finish. The software does not recognize the ZZ prefix as Channel 9. The solution at the moment is to reassign the channels.

Red start = Green start banana jacks

Red Finish = K1 (first RED banana jack on the left) Red for signal (green out of cell) and any of the black banana jacks for ground

Blue Start = K2 (second RED banana jack)

Blue finish = K3 (third RED banana jack)

This is easy if you are using photocells that are battery powered and use banana plugs into the timer. An adapter will have to be made to split off the signal to banana plug if the DIN plug has to be used to power an older ALGE cell.
