For the most part, World Cup coaches are a pretty sorry lot. But the Canadian team has got it wired. Instead of preening for the TV cameras or screaming inane platitudes at racers in the start chute, this Canadian coach spent the entire Lake Louise mens DH race planted in front of our video display, noting down every split of every racer on a clipboard and answering radioed queries from Canadian racers at the top as to which athletes on which skis were posting what times on certain parts of the course.
No wonder a Canadian (Jan Hudec) won the race.
