1. Create a Name data file in USSA Software. (Please make sure that Bib #'s and Start #'s are the same on the Transfer Disk going from USSA Software to Skiware).
2. Export to a Floppy Disk on the A drive.
3. Open file in Notepad; insert a comma (,) between Last Name and First Name. Under the command Search; go into Find and indicate (find space#), after that hit F3 (to find space#) and insert comma into space. Save file.
4. Now go into Skiware and Create an Event.
5. Import the Comma Delimited Race File. On the right side of screen indicate how you want the Fields to be imported into Skiware. Last Name - 4, First Name - 5, Bib - 1, Start Number - 1.
6. To test proper import (Hit Enter), if it looks good, Start Import. Make sure that Target Race is correct.
7. To Edit Start Order; go under File and go into Race Setup and Edit 1st Start Run Start Order. This might occur when you have to change Bib# due to missing Bib #'s.
8. Go into Race/Timing where you will now see the names which you have imported. Now start timing for your race.
9. Now work on Status of Athletes (ie. DNS, DNF, DQ, etc.)
10. Export your Race Data now into USSA-NT format and enter file name A:\(filename).tmg. (Please Note: When transfering Data from Skiware into USSA-NT there must be Last Name and First Name with Bib #).
11. Exit Skiware, enter into USSA and import from time, select file, import.
FOR SECOND RUN
12. Exit USSA re-enter Skiware Race/Timing and verify status of Athletes (DNS, DNF, DQ)
13. Go into FILE - and indicate 2nd Run Settings/Disciplines and make sure your data is correct.
14. Go into FILE and indicate Calculate 2nd Run Start.
15. Go back to Race/Timing - click toggle to Run 2 and the other toggle - List by Start #, and Start timing.
16. Now go into Export Race for USSA-NT format, and enter filename A:\(filename).tmg.
17. Go back into USSA and import your 2nd Runs times.
Note:
These techniques may also work with fiddle*ware, a free software available at www.phoenix-sports.com. Then head to software. You can also download an excel file for doing data input. They have not been fully tested but the principles still apply. Download the USSA software at www.splitsecond.com and proceed. A
fluency in using Excel will certainly help as you navigate the world of free software and preparing files for transfer between them.
