Help: Cant get scoreboard running with cable

Hello,

I have a Microtab (16x9) scoreboard that I want to connect to computer running FinishLynx using a serial cable. I have a FinishLynx camera connected trough connection box and the start sensor is wireless.

I am used to have the Microtab wireless and that has always worked but now when I connect it to the computer with the serial cable nothing works.

Do i have to use some kind of connection box for the Microtab or should I be able to connect it straight trough a USB to serial converter to the computer?

The Microtab will work fine if you have it in base program, 1200 baud, row 0, col 0

Make sure your USB to serial adapter really works. You have to see it in windows device manager.

Select the display in lynx and then restart lynx. Sometimes it does not pick it up the first time.

And to be shore the serial cable goes to serial 1 on the Microtab rigth? My usb-serial adapter works, I use it for the caption button and other scoreboards. Never given me any problems.

Good to know that what I was doing should work. Now I just have to get it to work.

Correct.

The Din plug should be labeled Serial 1. Yes. it plugs into the top socket labeled Serial 1.

Remember that serial ports are bidirectional. A USB adapter you have used for a capture button could be reassigned to be an output for the display.

Most issues are with these adapters.

The serial port can be shared between the capture button and a display or other serial device with a properly wired splitter. Lynx had the diagrams for the splitter on it's web site and sold them if you did not do the soldering. I've had one since the old scsi cameras, but have not used it since I bought the auto capture module.
