I am thinking of rewiring a set of education quality headsets for use on ALGE amps. The speakers are 32 OHMS and the mic is 2000 Ohms.
Anyone know the ideal impedances for ALGE amps?

Specs for the standard Alge Headsets are

Polar pattern hypercardioid

Frequency range 100 to 8,000 Hz
Sensitivity 0,72 mV/Pa (- 63 dBV)
Max. SPL 130 dB (for 1% THD)
Impedance 230 ohms
Recommended load impedance >500 ohms
Headphones:
Type closed-back, circumaural dynamic headphones
Frequency range 150 to 5,000 Hz
Sensitivity 90 dB SPL/mW
Rated impedance 200 ohms/channel
Lightweight ASL headset have a 200ohm mic and 400ohm headphone.
Not sure which is optimal but both setups work with Alge amps.

We actually modifed some old ARMY "tank" intercom headsets once to work with ALGE SV series amps. They will work if the impendance is correct. At the end of the day though there is some comfort in the safe old AKG products.
I'm about to configure a set of David Clark headsets (either an H10-32 or H8532) to the headset amps.
I need to use the David Clarks as they have better all around noise cancelling.
Anyone done it before?

Well,
The David Clarks worked great. The noise cancelling microphone and the noise reduction headsets made a huge difference at Lake Louise.
Our finish line person said he could not have heard the timing shack without this headset.

At Kitz, I had to stand on the finish line surrounded by huge sub woofers playing Om Pah Pah music for hours. With the David Clarke, I had absolutely no problem hearing the headset coms, not to mention the ear protection they provided. Britt, who had to join me at a later time with a standard Alge headset could not hear anything at all.
Pretty impressive.
