The ALGE GAZ4 circuit board has the toggle switch to change display from bib/rank > min sec 100th > hr min sec on Rotary dial 0. Looking at the end of the display, up is bib/rank, middle is min sec, and down is hr min.
It sounds to me like the display is not getting the proper data. Check the display itself by putting the dial on 11 and letting it cycle through the test pattern (middle= digit by digit, down = 888888) All digits should show up in sequence. If they don't then you have to open the display and make sure that all of the mechanical
connections are solid. Each digit is universal, each ribbion cable connection is universal. The only thing that determines the digits action is the colored wire connection between the main circuit board and the digit.
If all of this checks out then I suspect the issue is with the timer or PC. you have not told me what type of system you are using or where you are from (BAD!) and I must confess I can't keep all of you in my head anymore.
You need 2 GAZ4s jumped together to make this work. The Left hand display is set on 0 with the toggle up. The right hand display is set on 0 with the toggle in the center. ALGE TDC 4000 and 8000 timers work 100% with this display. TAG 705 timers work ok but we have had feedback from the field that indicates that they hiccup. Split Second USSA software works fine with the standard configuration.
