The press is using heavy ink about what is going on at the FIS World Championships in Garmisch, described as a scandal:

Yesterday FIS's president G. Kasper spoke to an agency (dpa) trying to cool down the raising protests. But today it seems even worse, if possible. The subject is gaining momento, with team Slovenia's spokesman statement about possible official protest about Tina Maze's results and a long stripe of articles on the press of many nations including Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, France, leaving fans and sportsmen astonished.

It is a good thing that we all have to fill out the TTDR forms.

The forensic analysis of the tapes and times will no doubt be the final word. I have no doubt that the ALGE team had a TIMY2 synchronized at the start to record all of the departure splits independently. The photofinish and the TIMY2 at the finish recording splits should provide ample extra data to back up the official times. All of this analysis takes time of course and the media wants quick answers.

I am not exactly sure of all of the circumstances, but we all know how times on tv, scoreboards, live timing and from the announcer are SUPPOSED to be considered unofficial. Regrettably MOST people are conditioned to believe everything they see on TV , right or wrong.

Only the tapes and the Chief of Timing and Calculations can make the final determination.
