Sorry if I have ask this question previously but does anyone use the finishlynx camera and Hy-Tek for Cross Country meets?

If you do, can you explain the set up and how they interact with each other?

We use the finishlynx for track meets of course and we use hip numbers for the non-laned races or they tongue depressor the finish.

We know we could do that but not sure that is any better than what we currently use. We use the stop watches that doc into Hy-Tek to download times and then we just entry the order of finish by hand.

I know there are all kinds of other options with chips, etc. but just wondering if we could be using the FinisyLynx/Hy-Tek more efficiently for cross country meets?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hi,

Typically you would either use hip numbers = bib numbers or better yet use an identilynx camera so that you can view bib numbers on the competitors fronts. We most typically use it as backup or in conjunction with our IPICO readers for meets of any size, but for smaller meets, it works pretty well. If you use only a side camera you need some method of getting bib order such as tag pull, time machine, etc.

The advantage it has is that is both times and handles place if you do it correctly.
I've found that having a bar code on the bib numbers and then using a code reader the easiest way to get the bib numbers into the Hy teck and then importing times from either a printer timer or from the finish lynx works well. If you have paid for the option Hy teck works well, but too many people seem to forget to buy an option and then get upset when you tell them that they need the option for ,photo timing, masters age groups, cross country etc.
you need the CC option in hytek to score a xc meet correctly BUT you can do it as you would a 3200 in track (Run menu) or in the CC screen.
in the regular Run menu you would need to time and match bibs (as a regular distance race) in lynx.
if you go the other route of timing and then matching bibs then it would need to be done in th CC mode where you input bib order, and then pull in times and then merge the two.
I've start to use Finishlynx camera with identilynx. Because I am the only operator, I used the photocell option to capture each runner who finish. Also To avoid runner hide by another, I adjust the number of frame that it is record by identilynx and send to the image so I have a very small number of frame for the side camera (which is good to read each number rapidly) and then if the number is hide, I put my mouse over the identilynx windows and roll the scroll wheel to run the athlete and see the number to identify it... I succeed to do 6km race with 300 runners with no error.
