We ran a Cycling TT this past weekend without the use of any printed results in honor of Earth Day and all the trees we could save with Broder's Skunkware applications controlling the event.
Industrial wireless was used to connect the timing/finish line with registration/results about 1 mile away in a community room at the metro park where the event was held. The registration room had a computer and projector hooked up to display Broder's Commentator2 screen which constantly displays results by class. (and users can easily change/combine classes).
The promoter had a 15 minute review of each of the standings (class) using the projector and then awarded each of the results to the racers.
All went very smooth and nobody missed not having the paper results.
PDF's of the event were transfered to the race organizer who had them on the internet before most racers arrived home.
Hope this is a more common event, as it is great not having to lug around extra printers and the immediate ability to update results in real time if needed.
