I have two, almost brand spanking new, D-Lines. Unlike my older GAZ displays, it is really difficult to set a running time on them. Countdown works great, but count up is another story. (What were the boys and girls at ALGE thinking?)

I do have a Comet and a Timy and would like to use one of them to drive the D-Lines, but so far have not had any luck with ether one. My preference is to use my Comet because I would like to keep my Timy free for other tasks.

So here is what I have done:

On the Comet, I am using the Commander -> Stopwatch and setting my preferred time as I would for a GAZ display. I plug the banana plugs in to the C16 port on the D-Line. I have the following settings on the D-Line:

br 1A
SE n2
t0 00
Ad 00

From the documentation it appears the SE n2 setting is the one that should control it. I tried various settings in the SE menu and have not had any luck. Even thought because the Comet was rather old, the SE n5 setting would do the trick, but no.

I double checked the Comet and cable on one of my GAZ displays to make sure there is nothing wrong with the Comet and cable and they are working fine.

I have tried the same thing with my Timy and no luck. On the Timy, I have been using Backup and connecting the D-Out ports to the C16 ports on the D-Line. Again the combination of Backup and D-Out work fine on my GAZ displays. Again changing the SE settings on the D-Line seem not to make any difference.

Does any one out there have clue how to make this happen?

Once I get that working, I would like to drive the two D-Line at the same time from the same device. Is it as easy as plugging another set of banana plugs in to the first set of banana plugs and jumping to the second D-line?

If you just want the D-line(s) to count up, you can easily do this without an external clock:

tH: (anything above Zero, try 10)
td: 0
tt: 0
SE: s2
tO: 5 (something short, say 5, so you don't have to wait long).

Nothing else will actually matter.

You can set the time on the D-line to count up from any time one of three ways.

1. When you go to set the D-line now, the first thing you will get to during setting is HH set it to the hours you want, then mm, then seconds. Go through all the settings and when you are done, you will be able to hit the button on the side to start the D-line at the TOD you set. You cam make it 00:00:00 to start from 0 and if you unplug it in this mode it WILL remember your race time!

You can do the same thing using the D-line configuration software (make sure you have the right cable and all your settings are correct (baud, etc).

Finally, you can connect a Timy and set the TOD with a Timy, and then unplug it and again, it will keep the Timy just like above.

1. Make sure the Timy Scoreboard setting is set to 2400 baud as that is what your clock above are set to. (if the data from the Timy is displaying, it is correct, and the following will work). You can do this to multiple clocks simultaneously if they are all connected and showing data, it will work.
2. Go to "Interface" in the Timy menu, then "Display" then "Time and Date" set the Time to the TOD you want. Once you hit enter for the Date, the time will be reset to what you want on the Dline. NOTE: it will take whatever time you set above on tO for the D-line to revert to the time you set AFTER you unplug the Timy. If you never unplug the Timy, you will never see the Timy you set as tO = Time to revert to the D-lines TOD after not receiving external data.

In my book, at least two of the ways are just as easy as a Gaz as I can do this pretty fast, it remembers the time when unplugged and I can set multiple D-lines simultaneously!
