Cheap solution for start clock tripod?

I have a TAG HL 920 start clock.
I'm looking for a cheap(er) solution for mounting it on a tripod. Anyone have a working solution they like besides the expensive TAG tripod? I've heard of folks using a surveyor's tripod, but I can't find one with the 3/8" 16-thread bolt that will attach to the clock...

You want a video tripod without head. Load capacity is the main issue here.
