HAL acquires 100% of the shares in ChampionChip
HAL acquired 100% of the shares in the ChampionChip Group. The ChampionChip Group operates globally and is active in the development and production of sports identification and timing equipment for sports events such as running and cycling. The company has approximately 65 employees and reported 2007 sales of approximately € 8 million.
The activities of the ChampionChip Group will be combined with those of AMB i.t. Holding B.V. AMB is also active in the field of timing solutions and equipment, focusing predominantly on motorized sports events. HAL increased its stake in AMB in April 2008 from 30% to 100%.
This new combination brings together over 25 years of experience in sports identification and timing solutions and creates a powerful group with a strong position in both the motorized and the active sports markets.
The new company will continue to focus on the acquisition, analysis and publication of relevant results for both athletes and sports organizations.
By collecting more and more relevant data it will be possible to enhance the sports experience even further for participants of sports events but also for fans and time keepers.
Ton van Lieshout, former shareholder and interim manager of ChampionChip explains: ”By joining forces with AMB it is possible to further speed up the product development process of ChampionChip. Recently ChampionChip developed a technology that makes it possible to determine and track the geographical position of participants in a race. That is why the combination of the technical expertise of both ChampionChip and AMB is unique in the world of time keeping. Our experience and product offering for mass market events and global positioning (GPS) combined with AMB’s extensive product and service range will create a very comprehensive product portfolio”.
Bas van Rens, current CEO of AMB and future CEO of the new group comments: ”By combining our markets and distribution network we can serve our customers even better. This will allow us to offer a truly total solution ranging from event registration to result publication and sharing solutions, for all mass market and club level sports events around the world”.
