When you are doing any form of live timing via the internet you have the obvious advantage of publishing results and many types of reports related to the event. This is great for interested parties before, during and after the race has finished.

I however have one personal favorite to add to this list that is not generally recognized. This is the simple fact that the timing cabin has been forced to come up with an internet solution.

For me this is a wonderful advantage when running a ski race. Our timing cabin is located up on the hill and too small to host RA activities. We had used a runner with the results disc method for years but now we simply email race files and results back and forth from the race HQ. Usually I even have a IM program running with the RA so we can let each other know when the files are available along with other information like DQs and protest periods.

Get online and comunicate better with race HQ and the world!
