ALGE GAZ doesn't display 1/100 sec. in parallel slalom

If it's like using S4 timer (User manual, ch. 3.5 Parallelslalom, p.42)
the display is running 1/10 second on data channel 1 (for
running time) and it's normal.

You think it's the same with the Timy ?

Probably, Gaz4 transfert protocol speed is the same with Timy: 2400 bps.
In parallel slalom, the signal sent can drive up to 3 Gaz4 at the
same time (time R, time B, difference). This signal is probably too slow
for driving 1/100 second on 2 scoreboards at the same time.

I'll check that out. In our situation we only have scoreboard in opration.

You have 1 GAZ4 in operation.

The data stream for the GAZ4 and the DLine is exactly the same. I recall that we used to use 3 - GA 82 for this purpose at 2400 baud with an S3 all the time in the 80's I doubt baud rate is to blame.

What version of TIMY firmware are you using? It will print that out when you start the TIMY.

I have several years of TIMY firmware so we can check that version if needed.

Timy V 09B5. I think we made the downloadable upgrade one or two years ago. The ALGE scoreboard is quit old though. There's no setting panel to it, just the power supply and the green and black plugs.

Sounds like an older GA 82. Are the two toggle switches on the bottom spread apart and the rotary dial on "0"?

Certainly an older ALGE scoreboard. There's no rotary dial on it! I did some test last weekend and you were right. The baud rate didn't have any effect.

Sorry FKP for the last post, I found the rotary dial (on "0") and toggles! Made a lot of test this weekend and didn't find a solution. Anyone has an idea ?

A new season is coming and I still looking for a answer to this post ! We didn't have a parallel run last season but we will probably have one this season. Anyone as an idea for this problem ?

We would love to try to solve this issue and we do have some older displays here we can test with.

Are we talking about the "Parallel Diff" program where one course finish starts the time and the other finishes it like Pro Racing? Or are we talking about "Dual Timer" ?

It's the "Parallel Diff" program. It's ok for the picture, but it won't be before one or two weeks. I won't go to the club this weekend, but as soon that I have the picture, i'll send them to you.

I just had a moment to try this. You are correct. The TIMY does not output the 10s-1000ths to the GA 82 display which is what you have. Let me check with the programmer and see if he can solve it with a TIMY firmware update. I tried with running 10ths on and off. The GA 82 is a little quirky so I don't doubt that it gets confused.

Would you consider trading in your display on a newer but used ALGE GAZ4 that will work?

Yes for sure. How old is your used GAZ4 ? I understand that it was not possible to solve the problem with a Timy update. What would be the cost ?
