Phoenix Sports was pleased to have an opportunity to demonstrate proper wireless techniques at the New Hampshire timing clinics. The NHSRA group was very interested in the future of wireless timing.

We did not have a chance to photograph the setup there so it has been recreated at our shop.

In short, scored races need 4 (four) printing homologated timers to make wireless work.

The New TIMY2PXE has a great battery pack. This will allow this timer to be used without extra power for the majority of races timed wirelessly.

Remember that this is an impulse system and you will still need verbal communications such as walkie talkies, text messages, cell phones.

4 timers required, wireless solution is up to you. Timers at the start and finish must be connected to their respective timers by wire. Details for the setup and requirements can be found in the FIS Timing Booklet (current is 2.46) on page 8 and in the diagrams section.

Also in the FIS Wireless Timing Precisions

Prior to using any without wire solutions for a scored race you should contact your USSA Timing Working Group representative and test your solution and techniques prior to race day. Without wire solutions are legal up to level 3 (regional FIS) races.
