Most problems with timers revolve around power. Make sure that all battery connections and clean and that the connections from the battery pack to the main circuit board are clean. Remove the rubber feet from the COMET and use a phillips #1 screwdriver to remove screws. The back with battery pack will now seperate from the front half. The three areas to look at first are the connections between the display and the main circuit board, the connection between the keypad and the main circuit board and the eprom. Remove each connection and reseat (with batteries removed). Replace batteries and try again. Try putting the COMET in the freezer for a hour and see if it still malfunctions. COMETS with worn keypads frequently malfunction. Replace the keypad if the A or C keys are dented or really worn. Service is always availible here at the PST shop. We have a vast array of parts and rebuild COMET routinely.
