Phoenix Sports provided the timing and results services for the 2013 USA PCC. We timed the time trial 100% electronically to UCI rules.
The start TIMY2 and Finish TDC 8000 plus were synced together using a Microgate GPS Microsync.
The precise TOD for each start was texted to the finish over 15k away. Each start was edited to account for the over/under from the actual time they rider broke the start beam.
Ie: Rider # 16 TOD start 14:00:00.102 or
Rider # 82 TOD start 15:00:59.983
This is a tried and true technique that allows everyone to see a true net time at the finish.
All times were verified by the UCI commasaires at the finish line.
The TV graphics contractor for the event, SMT ( Sports Media Technology) did not connect directly to the timing device. They were only connected to the results computer where they grabbed the updated results file.
Regrettably they were creating their own simulated running time that was off by over 20 seconds. Tejay's simulated time of 25.25 versus the real time of 25.01
