Timy Printing names and times

I was very pleasantly surprised to see this new feature last weekend using a loaner Timy. I wish ours would do this. It was a very helpful feature as we had a rerun granted and I totally dropped the ball entering in this out of order bib number. However, the print out on the tape saved me and was able to identify the racers time much easier due to the fact the previous racers time, name and bib were all printed on the tape making it very easy to find this time.

We have an older Timy, can I update firmware to get this new "Bidirectional Printing" to work?

Sunlight, it could be your cable. If the loaner was used with a different cable it could be that it was a BI-D cable and your is not. Try to do an update with the cable you have, if it does not work, your cable is not capable. If it does work then you will have the newest firmware and that might fix it for you. Most of the cables that I have made for my TIMYs are not Bi-D as this was not needed for anything other than updates until now.
