Swiss Timing has attempted to mount their photofinish cameras on the finish line truss to mimic the PST style.

They are using two cameras to backup the transponders. Glad to see they are finally coming around to the only true way to determine order of finish.

just for your information:

SwissTiming does NOT use photofinish cameras to backup transponders.
SwissTiming is using photofinish cameras since years for timing and results
Transponders are not precise enough for timing in 1/1000th s
transponders are used for instant results for tv graphics

... so where do you get your information from?

Sorry.

You are right. Swiss Timing is Swiss.

Swiss Timing came into timing an American sport called BMX by accident.

BMX became part of the Olympic family when the UCI decided to add it due the success of the X Games. The X Games are timed by an American company, Sports Media Technology using AMB transponders backed up by Finish Lynx cameras.

AMB (My Laps, Dutch) pushed and continues to push for use of transponders in BMX racing. They were involved many years before Swiss Timing got involved.

Swiss Timing has been using AMB (My Laps) Transponders

Swiss Timing flags their "order of finish" that is generated by the transponders "photo" when the result is close enough to need to be verified by the cameras. A very sensible approach.

Swiss Timing is based in Switzerland which allows them to call themselves "Swiss Timing"

Swiss Timing is only partly Swiss - Most of the timing and service staff is German.

no - by sponsoring (SWATCH) and professional timekeeping.

the current ChipX-Transponder series (ProChip) has been involved by and developed together with Swiss Timing in 2007

of course, they are the best in the world (currently)

"Photo Finish" does not indicate an order of finish but a very close result which has to be checked by photo finish camera for verification - unless this operation, no result will be published - even not a partial ranking

again - Swiss Timing is mainly based in Germany.

I'm really sorry, but until now I have seen no other company doing a super fast, precise and professional timing like those swiss/german guys. And this is not only my opinion - there is a big difference betwenn timing and life timing for TV, life-internet, instant result meeting the Olympic standards...

I have seen no other company doing a super fast, precise and professional timing like those swiss/german guys.

I have seen no other timing company other than Swiss Timing under multiple indictments for fraud, money laundering, and racketeering.

Regardless of whether they are German or Swiss, Interpol is knocking on their door.
