Serial port not accepting S4 data

I've been using an S4 with a laptop (win95 p90) and splitsecond software with good luck. I hooked the s4 to a desktop, win95 and nothing. I've checked the settings in the SS software and they are like the laptop. I have hooked both the laptop and desktop to the s4 simulatneously (dual cable) and the laptop works but not the desktop. I'm in 'view raw data' so the dongle is not an issue.

I'm sure this is a pc problem, but when I go yo 'control panel' , 'setting', com1, or com2 all looks ok.

What am I missing .

Well--1st is the com 1 working with any other hardware?

Try com 2 and make sure all the set up and test ports are set to the right port.

Try running the clock before you start the software, it should tell you if the software is seeing the com port or not. Do you have a score board--try it in the com
