RaceClock LED charging light off

I recently changed the batteries on my 1207-6XL raceclock. The clock works, but the charging light is not illuminated during charging or while the clock is in operation. I have an older clock where the charging light flashes quickly when the clock batteries are charged. Any suggestions on what I should check?
