just starting out looking for advice on timming systeams

Me and my freind have been running road races for 30 yrs and now are wanting to get into actually setting up races and timming we want a good systeam to start out with but want to keep the cost low so we are looking at used could anyone give us advice what to look for we are just going to start out small races under 300 any help would be nice

Start with some smaller races and do bib tag pulls. You can use RaceTab which is free and do races in the 1-100 range. Get your feet wet.

Then you will want to advance to a chip system at some point or to FinishLynx with a frontal camera perhaps if you will also do track (if you have to pick one and might do track start with FinishLynx and add chips second).

Used systems are hard to find, but I know of a few things if you want to email me at DON at michanatiming DOT com I'll try to help you as best I can. Most of what I currently know of used is more than you would want for your size range.

Timing is hard work, but if you can do it well, RD's and participants will all appreciate it.
