Just a bit of info for anyone looking to extend networks over the 100m distance. The NetSys NV-200 will work up to 1.5 Kilometers at 5Mbps or 1 Kilometer at 15Mbps and all you need is one pair of copper. They are extremely easy to install. We've been using these units at the Verizon Sports Complex here in Lake Placid to extend high speed internet access up the Bobsled/Luge Track. They are fairly inexpensive compared to the competition and seem to work very well so far. You can find them on http://www.netsys.com.tw/Home.htm . Service is also excellent, we had a pair damaged by lighting this weekend. We called the company and they had a new set in the mail, free of charge with next day delivery, that day. Of course we now have surge protection on them.

We used these (or similar products) for a while here at Sunday River for a few applications. The only drwback was the were very suseptable to damage from power spikes. Surge protectors didn't help much. Once we looked at the price of a line cleaners, and really expensive surge protectors, it made more sense to just put in a switch and router.

Ya it would take an a lot of Cash to buy enough switches so space out over a mile of cable seeing that you can only go 100 meters with cat 5 for network connections. Lets see divide 340ft into 5280ft. Ya that would be about 15 swithes you would need. So at $100 for a good switch hmmm. I think the $250 for these units is a pretty good deal. I've been using several sets of these units with no problems as long as they are protected with a simple power strip with the phone line surge protection built in.
