The ALGE GAZ4 display circuit board (and those used in PST displays) can be used with the TAG 705 timer. The 705 outputs 9600 baud so the circuit board must have a jumper installed to switch from the native ALGE 2400 baud. New displays so ordered can have an ALGE/TAG switch added.
The circuit board must have the switch to TAG or the jumper installed and be set on rotary dial 1. This must happen prior to turning the power to the display on. Bib and rank can be displayed on another GAZ4 with rotary switch on 2.
The cable from the 705 to the GAZ4 uses the DB9 female connector with pin 5 as ground and pin 2 (god knows why they use pin 2 and the entire rest of the world uses pin 3) as signal. We have not tested it beyond 35 meters (100 feet)
The 705 must have the ALGE selected under "global options"
The 705 does not currently support "time to beat" The ALGE tdc 4000 (since 1982!) and the TDC 8000 do.
