I am Marty from the sport of BMX in Australia. I am trying to come up with ideas for a track side box to mount a Mylaps ProChip decoder in. Would anyone be able to help and send me some photos and some advice on what size case I would need?
We have two decoders; my idea is to have two boxes that fit everything in. I.e. For transport the laptop and cabling fit in the boxes with the decoders and batteries.
Each box would have a battery plus decoder while in use.
My questions are:
What size battery is suitable to run a decoder for say 6 or 8 hours?
What is a good battery charger to suit the batteries?
What protection would I have to use to protect the decoder? I assume a fuse and either blocking diode or bridge rectifier. Would I also have to have a low voltage cutout?
I like the pelican style cases what size would you suggest?
Foam or no foam? I like the idea of mounting the items solidly in the box without foam as foam seems to take up room and could restrict the air flow.
Any other advice you could give me would be much appreciated.
