Phoenix Sports does not sell software to the public. We do package software as part of our VELOWARE and TTWARE systems for professionals. We do encourage people to explore all of the alternatives that are out there. Software comes in two basic types; timing and text formatting. There are presently no homologated software requirements from the FIS, only requirements that the calculations performed by the software abide by the "subtract at 1000ths, truncate to 100ths" rule. The USSA has several recommended packages listed on their website.

Split Second has produced the most popular software for text formatting in the US which is availible free from their website or through the USSA. This software transmits and accepts data from other programs or spreadsheets. A simple timing version is also availible, with enhancements no doubt planned for the summer of 2000.

NASTAR has made their timing software availible free to the general public. Check www.nastar.com/software.
Excel97 can be used as a powerful tool for all data management tasks. Excel can be configured to allow the calculation of whole and fractional time, points, rankings, etc. You can import data from one program, alter the "look" and then export it. The only limitation is your imagination.

Many other software packages appear daily. If you have found one, please post a message here to help others.
