The two TTs from ATOC were carried live on Versus Network, thus requiring live timing graphics. This is the first time in decades a TT has been broadcast live at a US race - if ever.
Timing was done with TT*Ware. Fred and I set up a one-meg ethernet link between the finish line and the TV compound (approx 400m) using phone wire and some custom DSL routers I supplied. Without the DSL routers, we would not have been able to do this, since ethernet only travels 100m unboosted. WiFi with custom "Pringles Can" antennas was out of the question, because (A) there wasn't line-of-sight between the finish line and the TV compound and (B) far too much interference; the Prologue was right smack in the middle of the Embarcadero Center in downtown San Fran, I picked up 19 WiFi networks from the surrounding businesses and hotels with a quick scan outside the TV truck.
Fred operated TT*Ware, and I managed two CGs in the TV truck - one for timing and one for data-handling. I used Digisuite LEs with SDI daughterboards.
