How do you use a printer for data logging off the computer? Do you need to install a printer driver? The 414 works serial and parallel. What is best for this function. I use an S4 for the track and usually plug our old Seiko into the S4 direct.
For road TT i use my timy and the built in printer. If we use a timy at the start and 1 at the finish can You also use an external printer as a log for both impulses through a pc or laptop?

Yes, you can use the 414 for a datalog. You will need an additional serial port to drive the 414. No additional drivers are needed, but you do need to know the baud rate, parity info. I leave mine the same as the S4, so as not to have to change the dip settings of the printer.

If you are using TT ware, you just select datalog and a free serial port. Note that the newer versions of TT allow the datalog to be saved to a text file in case you forget to bring the serial printer.

For you want to save all impulses, you will have to make sure that you are capturing all start times as well as finish times from the computer. You should only need one Timy if you use two timing channels. The Timy will capture all raw timing data, your datalog will associate the raw times with the competitors.
