When using Timys at the recent Worldcup moguls dealio at Mt Tremblant, we got low-battery warnings within about 10 mins of turning the things on, despite leaving them charging overnight. We turned the printers off as prompted and they lasted thru the race nonetheless. Presumably the batteries charge whether the unit is on or off? There appears to be no visual indication of a charging condition, either on the unit or its charger, nor is there any apparent battery-condition guage like a cellphone etc. A little disconcerting given the importance of keeping the unit alive & kicking after a multi-unit sync... Otherwise a devilishly clever little device.

You are correct. The printer draws a great deal of power and it is recommended to turn it off when working without a power supply. The TIMY has an "INFO" screen that will tell you the status of the unit. Press and hold "2nd" followed by the menu key (stack of pancakes)The TIMY will now tell you the battery power etc. The U Batt value is the battery power.

Left arrow key to exit "INFO"

The TIMY charges once the external power is applied and the "external power" message shows on the LCD screen

I wish I had seen this prior to the FIS race we just had. I had all the same problems, finally putting Duracell's for the Timy at the top of the hill.

We then had the Timy brought down the hill and plugged in so that we could print out the backup timing starter list.

I'll try 3.13. for the Canadian Jueve's next week.

Also, is there anyway to clear the memory without power cycling the Timy?

Lastly (I haven't checked), but is Alge updatign the user manual with each release of the firmware?

The latest version of the TIMY is 3.31 The user manual is not updated everytime there is a firmware update. There is a revision log that you can download and print for reference.

To clear the memory you can restart the program. Press the menu key and then select "change program" It will then ask you if you want to clear the memory as part of the recycle process.
