We are planning to splice in two intermediate stations on our race hill cable. These will be used occasionally for Slalom starts, but more frequently we want to tap in at these locations with (Alge) headsets so that we can communicate with start and finish such things as racers' progress, course repairs needed, etc.

My question may be really simple - but since I'm nowhere near our equipment right now, I have no way to test. How do you best tie in intermediate stations for (1) start stations, (2) headsets only? Thanks, Phil

The ALGE S4 and TDC 8000 have discrete audio channel capability. You can plug a headset into a pair of cables not used for timing and have the timekeeper talk only to that person. You will have to parallel the spotter headset into the same line as the starter if you want the starter, timekeeper and spotter to all talk together. I believe that you should keep the communication as clear as possible. Run the seperate pair and let the spotter talk only to the timekeeper who can then relay the news to the starter. Try the theory out with plugging the spotter into the red (Ch 9) input of the S4.
